Michael Mason

Executive Director

Michael is an Executive Director at Seabury Aviation Partners, with over 30 years of airline and aviation-related experience. Michael has advised numerous airline clients on a variety of projects, including treasury operations, working capital and liquidity management, cash forecasting, balance sheet restructuring, developing organizational efficiencies, programs to support reductions in costs, foreign exchange exposure, fuel hedging and implementation of overall organizational changes. At these clients, Michael has served in various interim financial executive roles (including interim Treasurer and CFO) in support of the client’s restructuring. In the early 2000s, Michael served as interim Chief Financial Officer of Gulf Air where expenses were reduced and the need for outside capital dramatically reduced.

Michael served as Assistant Treasurer of Continental Airlines and was responsible for world-wide cash management, credit management and credit card processing and global cash forecast.  He developed the foreign currency hedging program, established local treasury operations including local credit facilities in many foreign locations, created a centralized treasury management system, actively managed the airlines working capital accounts, oversaw the financial performance of assets in the Company’s 401k and retirement plans and directed the day-to-day liquidity of Continental Airlines. The cash planning and investment model developed by Michael during Continental’s restructuring was an effective tool in its emergence from Chapter 11 in 1993.

Mr. Mason holds an M.B.A. and a B.S. in Business Management from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
